January 3 check-in

Word count: 1,395

Monthly total: 4,258

That was, again, my blog post and working on You Can’t Fight Destiny. I gave myself mood whiplash with that thing. Some of the things going through Josh’s head were hilarious, but every time Hayley opened her mouth, I burst into tears. That girl was just breaking my heart. But, eventually got her out of there and to the art show. Where Elijah was flirting and adorable. And writing this scene in his POV means I don’t have to deal with Hayley worrying about what happens tomorrow. I can totally sidestep the angst and focus on the cuteness. Part of today’s project on that is deciding if I want to lead this conversation back to the one they had on the show – which was pretty cute – and if so, how to do that. Ended up diverging a bit because I needed Elijah to flirt with her and be adorable.

Also did some reading in my outlining book. Have reached the part about deciding if you want to use a storyteller. And now I’m toying with the idea of making the entire series a history account told by Aruca. I need to think on that some more, though. It could be interesting. And I kind of love the idea of hinting from the beginning that even Nicolaus doesn’t know everything. I keep coming up with all kinds of interesting ideas, but so far, nothing that will give me an actual scene-by-scene outline. Dear Gods, I hate outlining.

Anyway… step count yesterday was 2,259. I always do horrible on that on my days off. Need to figure out ways to up that. Did really good on my calorie budget, though.

Finished catching up on the fanfic I was reading. Caught something amazing in the last chapter that I didn’t catch the first time reading it. Ended up flailing on Twitter with the author about it. So, that was fun.

Cleaning and schoolwork still not happening. I’ll get some cleaning done this weekend. Monday, I intend to restart the last lesson I started in my schoolwork. I’m technically to the quiz, but I totally don’t quite understand this, so I think I need a refresher.

January 2 check-in

Yesterday’s word count: 1464

Monthly total: 2,863

Blog posts and fanfiction. Worked more on You Can’t Fight Destiny. Hayley and Elijah flirting, while Elijah has no bloody clue who she is, is kind of giving me life, right now. And have now gotten to the part of this adventure where Josh is interrogating Hayley about what she’s doing there. It’s a lot of fun.

Stayed in my calorie budget and walked 6,943 steps. So, diet is going better than it did on Tuesday. Still have not cleaned anything. I did read some. New chapter of my favorite fanfic was posted, yesterday, so I started rereading it to refresh myself on it. Which, I got so caught up in it that it was almost 11pm before I wrote anything beyond my blog posts. Oops.

Honestly, I’m just glad I survived it. After waking up so bloody early, my body decided that it was bedtime right as I needed to get dressed and eat breakfast so I could go to work. And then work was crazy slow, which did not exactly help my energy levels at all.

But, I’m baby-stepping my New Year’s resolutions. And, I kind of like doing it that way. Only thing I’m trying to go all-in on is the writing. Other than that, I’m just working my way up to where I want to be. Which probably actually makes more sense than going all gung-ho the first week in January and then burning out. There was a thing on the radio about how most New Year’s resolutions only last about two weeks, and the second Friday in January is known as Quitters Day. I’d rather ease into things and gradually create habits I can stick with, than bite off more than I can chew and end up participating in Quitters Day.

So, that was my day, yesterday. Gonna admit that today is not looking great, but will hopefully get some more of YCFD written tonight to reach my word count goal. And, if not… that just means I’ll need to step it up this weekend.

Favorite scenes from The Originals episode 1×08

Hayley taking care of Elijah

I doubt anyone has taken care of Elijah since he was a child. Watching him not know what to do with someone trying to do so now is kind of fun. The jokes about annihilating Klaus made me laugh. But, really… Just… Hayley’s refusal to leave him. Her reassuring him that she’s here, and he’s going to be okay. It was so beautiful. And his reaction to realizing that he had called Hayley “Celeste” was kind of cute, too.

Marcel and Rebekah make plans to take down Klaus

First of all, Tyler is one of several characters who my opinion of changes depending on which show I’m watching. I started watching The Originals, first. After watching three seasons, I decided to watch The Vampire Diaries before coming back to The Originals. I grew to like Tyler on TVD. But, man did I despise the little punk on TO. And in this scene, I was really wishing that Rebekah had just ripped his heart out instead of just snapping his neck. But, gotta love “Auntie Beks” looking out for her niece. “That’s enough talk about harming that baby.” You go girl!

Cami giving Klaus a piece of her mind

I love Cami. And her telling Klaus off, here, is really the start of her real character arc. This is where she starts becoming his conscience. And every word she says here, is 100% true. Watching her – a normal human woman with NOTHING on her side – stand up and tell off the single most powerful being on the planet is kind of awesome. She is taking no shit. And I love it. Here’s to Cami – the badass normal. Using her brains to hold her own against Klaus fucking Mikaelson.

Josh the double agent

Watching poor Josh act out his own private spy movie is kind of hilarious. The poor kid is in way over his head. And, since I love him, I want to feel bad for him. But, all I can do is sit here and laugh.

Klaus fighting Marcel’s army

Klaus is such a badass. Yes, I spent large portions of the first two seasons hating him for the way he treated Elijah and Hayley, but that doesn’t change anything. He is still a badass. And the music in this scene is incredible. Add in Rebekah realizing how totally screwed they are and basically saving Marcel’s life… So freaking perfect.

Elijah shows Hayley what happened to Celeste

Gods! These two are just made for each other! Can we just discuss the part at the end? Elijah literally admitted to having feelings for Hayley but that he needs to stay away to protect her. I want to cry. Fuck Klaus and his bullshit! I just want my babies to be happy.

Whoo! I ended up with a lot of scenes this time! But, there was a lot of my favorite characters showing WHY I love them so much. I liked this episode. Though not the fact that the conversation Hayley and Elijah have in that last clip is probably a big part of why I still have to wait more than TEN MORE EPISODES to see the first Haylijah kiss. It should have happened right there, in that car. They both wanted it, but Elijah has to be all noble. Sigh…

January 1 check-in

I ended the day with 1,399 words. Part of that was yesterday’s blog post. The rest was fanfiction. Started a fun one-shot of Elijah and Klaus helping Hayley break her Sirebond. Elijah’s reaction to walking in on the first half of that process was kind of funny. Though, my favorite lines from it were all Klaus’s dialogue. Apparently, yesterday was my day to write a damn good Klaus Mikaelson. But then I couldn’t bring myself to write a Humanity-less Hayley. So, I put that one on the backburner for a bit. Switched over to You Can’t Fight Destiny. Doing a time-skip to Hayley arriving in France. Right now, I’m writing the meeting scene from 5×11 from Josh’s POV and it’s cracking me up.

The rest of my resolutions didn’t go so well. I blew my calorie budget by 110, didn’t exercise, took a whopping 913 steps, and didn’t read a single word of fiction. I also didn’t clean much of anything, and did no schoolwork. Oh well. I will probably wait and start the exercise program on Sunday or Monday. Give myself the rest of this week and the weekend to get some cleaning done – since I still have a bit of a mess on my floor from adventures in wrapping Christmas presents.

So, that was my day, yesterday. Hopefully, today will be a bit better. But… I woke up at 3:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep. I’m not holding out much hope for my energy levels today…

Favorite scenes from episode 1×07 of The Originals

Klaus and Elijah looking for Hayley

I do love me some sibling banter between the Mikaelsons. And Elijah’s reactions to Klaus’s story about Tyler are hilarious. Only thing that would have made this better is if Elijah had punched Klaus for that bit about Hayley at the end. I was waiting for it, let me tell you.

Davina and Josh

Oh man! Davina and Josh are my BrOTP! Next to Haylijah, their friendship is the thing about this show that most gives me life. Here is the start of the single most uncomplicated relationship in the entire TVD universe. With each other, they can be just two kids trying to hold on in a world gone mad. I love them so much.

Hayley’s escape from Tyler

Let’s start with the moment Hayley realized that Dwayne was Sired to HER. Using Tyler’s own ploy for power against him was kind of beautiful. Though not nearly as beautiful as… well… JUST LOOK AT THAT SCREENCAP! The way Hayley threw her arms around him… that was not a frightened kidnapping victim happy to be rescued. That was a woman happy to see this particular man. And Elijah? He is feeling the same way. Just look at him. His eyes are closed, his hand is in her hair. And he is holding her SO tight. Yeah… these two are just… *Flails*

This episode was a bit of a step down from the last one. But, that one had set the bar pretty high, including one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. But, we got some fun banter between Elijah and Klaus, a nice Haylijah scene, and the start of the Bromance to end all Bromances. Plus, you know, some heavy plot-related things. Including a bit of foreshadowing of the end of the season – if you’ve already seen the end of the season and know what they’re foreshadowing, that is.
